Employee Spotlight: Christine Flannery

Christine Flannery is a Government Marketing Manager at Virtual Marketing, a division of Sage Communications. A graduate of Clemson University, Christine supports VM’s clients with executing marketing plans and account management.

What are your duties in a typical day here at Sage? As a Government Marketing Manager on the Virtual Marketing team, I work with clients in the public sector IT arena. Day-to-day I execute marketing plans for my clients – this could include anything from planning events, running digital advertising campaigns, developing social media or website content, and more. One of my favorite parts about the job is developing marketing strategies. Before running a campaign, it’s important to think about the reason behind the plan and making sure each tactic fits together to help reach the client’s goals.

What is the most exciting thing you’re working on right now? We run an annual charity golf tournament for one of our clients, ThunderCat Technology. Each year, they choose a different charity to receive the proceeds – we raised over $54,000 for Code of Support Foundation at the 2019 tournament! Event planning is something I love to do, and luckily, I get to plan events like this that help me expand on my skills and give back to the community.

Who inspires you? My mom inspires me the most. She’s managed to balance having a successful career and a family, and still has time to enjoy herself and have fun. She’s taught me how to voice my opinions and to be confident when sharing ideas.

What quote do you live by? “I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them.”
– Andy Bernard, The Office

I might be one of the world’s biggest fans of The Office, so obviously had to pick one from the show. Not only am I distantly related to one of the actresses (Kate Flannery aka Meredith), my dad grew up in Scranton and I have a “World’s Best Boss” mug at my desk that I won at an Office-themed trivia night.

I love this quote because it’s so easy to just go through the motions day-to-day and work for the weekend. But every day is filled with new opportunities and gives you the chance to do something great. Plus, I work with some pretty awesome people at Sage and there’s always some sort of fun-tivity happening at the office!

Where is your favorite place to travel? Anywhere in the Caribbean! Nothing better than sitting on the beach with a piña colada.

What are three things still left on your bucket list? Go on an African safari trip, scuba dive at the Great Barrier Reef, and remodel a house “Fixer Upper” style.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned while at Sage? Stay organized! Having a clear inbox and a to-do list keeps me sane and helps me do my job even better.
