Employee Spotlight: Megan Rufty
Megan Rufty is a Public Relations Senior Account Executive at Sage Communications. A 2015 graduate of the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, Megan supports a variety of clients across technology, non-profit and public sector verticals.
What are your duties in a typical day here at Sage?
Get organized (big advocate of the to-do list), pitching our rad clients, strategizing via PR plans and the like, briefing client spokespeople on important trends, internal and external check-in meetings, content development (fun fact: I’m a journalism major so I <3 writing).
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in a Senior Account Executive role?
Don’t be afraid to ask for advice. We’ve got a team willing to impart wisdom. Leverage this kindness and learn as much as you can.
What is your favorite way to spend Flex Friday? (Sagers work an extra 30 minutes everyday to have half days every other Friday!)
Netflix (RIP 30 Rock) and nap… OR if I’m feeling particularly energized, reading a good book!
What is the most exciting thing you’re working on right now?

Probably Tina Fey. Or Mindy Kaling. Strong women in general, but I’m partial to the funny ones.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned while at Sage?
Confidence is key. Speak up because creativity and big ideas are encouraged and will more often than not benefit yourself professionally AND the client.
